The Aum Pranava Ashram is situated in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu, not far away from the southernmost tip of India, Cape Cormorin or Kanyakumari. Our ashram lies nearby a village named Ilanji which is situated in between the two towns, Tenkasi and Shencottah.
Kuttralam ("Courtallam") is the name for the tourist area famous for its waterfalls at the feet of the Western Ghats (the western mountain chain extending from the southern tip up to Mumbai).
There is a Hindu temple in Courtallam dedicated to Lord (Siva). This temple has inscriptions regarding Chola and Pandya Kings. Nearby, there is a small temple called Chitra Sabha, decorated with paintings of deities. The sabha (hall) is one of the 5 sabhas where Lord Nataraja performed the cosmic dance. The waterfalls are viewable from the temple.
Season - a good time to visit Courtallam is June to September... One can enjoy the monsoon with light drizzling (Courtallam saaral).
