Day-to-day activities

Children at playThe day starts early morning for all the ashram members with prayers (omkar and bhajans) and studies for children. The kitchen staff is busy with preparations for morning breakfast.

At 8.30 am children leave for school and come back in the afternoon. From 8th class onwards lunch is provided in lunch boxes by the ashram.

After coming back from school children wash their uniforms, have tea and snacks, and play or rest for some time.

At 6 pm evening prayers (slokas and bhajans) start, followed by general counselling. Then the children are off for home works and evening studies until dinner at 8.30 pm.

The children’s caretakers are appointed to help the children with their daily routine and studies.

For a better personal development, we organize weekly classes of:

  • Drawing and Painting
  • Stitching and Tailoring (due to lack of available time, this extra-curricular activity had to be suspended for the academic year 2010/11).
  • Bhagavad Gita classes (the "Bhagavad Geetha" is one of the central Indian philosophical and spiritual texts)
  • Yoga Classes (according to availability of good Yoga teachers)
  • Sanskrit lessons

We also organize regular trips and excursions to nearby temples, museums, and other places of interest where the children and old people may deepen their understanding of their mother country's rich heritage.
